In addition to discussing tabled business, Sustainability East meetings provide a valuable forum for lively debates and workshops on future policy options for a wide range of regional sustainable development issues; including farming and food, energy, water resources, sustainable transport, behaviour change and sustainable living and coastal management. Experts give presentations and key stakeholders are invited to participate in the ensuing discussion. The usual format of meetings is therefore as follows:

The workshop - entitled 'Sustainable Living and Behaviour Change - Market Opportunities and Market Threats' - explored the role of businesses and organisations in promoting more sustainable behaviour and responding to the economic opportunities and challenges this brings.
