Sustainability East: Welcome

Sustainability East is the East of England's independent sustainable development champion.

We bring together experts from across the region to bring sustainable development to the heart of policy making in the East of England. We do this by carrying out critical analyses of policy instruments and spending programmes and acting as 'critical friend' to regional bodies whose decisions impact significantly on the economic, environmental and social development of the region. We also promote debate on sustainable development issues and, where appropriate, commission research to support better evidence-based debate and policy-making.

Our vision is that public, private and voluntary organisations in the East of England contribute to delivery of an enhanced quality of life for present and future generations, without compromising the natural resources and environmental assets that we currently enjoy.

2008 marks the 10 year anniversary of Sustainability East. During the past 10 years we have achieved significant breakthroughs on key issues affecting the region's sustainability including, but not limited to, water resource management, renewable energy generation and climate change adaptation.
